The Yandi III portion of the Rapid Growth Project 5 is an expansion of an existing mine located 400km south of Port Hedland. BHP’s aim was to increase production by 50 million tons annually to BHP’s target at that stage to 205 mtpa.
The Rapid Growth Project 5 involved the design and construction of open pit mining capacity, ore processing plant and service infrastructure, rail transportation of ore to existing facilities at Nelson Point and upgrade of Finucane Island and Nelson Point.
M-BIM Vircon’s scope on Yandi III project was contracted through two separate EPCM’s. For Laing O’Rourke, it included the West and East facilities containing a ROM hopper bin, Primary and Secondary Crushing buildings, an Apron Feeder, Vehicle underpass, transfer and overland Conveyors. For FAST JV the scope included Scalping Screening, Product Screening and Tertiary Crushing facilities.
M-BIM Vircon provided 3D BIM modeling, shop detailing drawings and associated deliverables for the production and site installation of all structural and mechanical steelwork, platework and piping associated with the facilities.
During project execution, the scope increased to also cover the Finucane Island.
It is our unique combination of experience, expertise and technology that turns complex data into intelligent and context rich models.
